Description:

East Asia, China, Yuan Dynasty, ca. 1271 to 1368 CE. A gorgeous, white-glazed ceramic jar of a globular form with a raised band around its center. Delicate, lightly raised tendrils form floral and abstract motifs on top and bottom of the vessel's exterior. Three tiny, lug handles are around the wide, round mouth. Yuan ceramics were made during a transitional time period in Chinese art, when Mongolian invasions in the north drove ceramic artists south. The white glazed surface here is particularly striking, allowing the elegant motifs to shine through it. Size: 4.75" W x 3.85" H (12.1 cm x 9.8 cm)
