East Asia, China, Yuan Dynasty, ca. 1279 to 1368 CE. A fine set of 2 hand-built pottery bowls covered in soft celadon green glaze. The first bowl bears a shallow form with flared walls above a squat foot and has a light gray circle centered in the basin. The larger bowl is of similar design but with a slightly thicker foot, taller walls, and with an unglazed basin center that displays the natural orange buffware hue. Size of largest: 6.9" W x 2.3" H (17.5 cm x 5.8 cm)

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010

  • Condition: Both bowls have light abrasions and a couple of stable pressure fissures indicative of age, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of celadon glaze. Larger bowl has old inventory label within basin.
