**Originally Listed At $500**

East Asia, China, Northern Wei Dynasty, ca. 386 to 535 CE. A fine pottery male figure shown standing and wearing a floor-length robe with a thick overcoat comprised of heavy folds of fabric. A broad collar surrounds his head, which looks outward displaying almond-shaped eyes beneath arched brows, a round nose, and full lips, all flanked by flat ears and crowned by a puffed coiffure pulled back by a hairband. His hands are placed together in fists, as though he previously held a flag or banner. Liberal remains of red, white, brown, and peach pigments scatter the surface of the hollow, mold-made figure, indicating he was previously painted. Size: 2.1" W x 7" H (5.3 cm x 17.8 cm)

Provenance: private Masontown, Pennsylvania, USA, collection, acquired in the 1990s
