Description:

East Asia, China, Warring States Period, ca. 476 to 221 BCE. A lovely cast-bronze halberd blade known as a ge with an L-shaped blade, a thick spine with a pair of rectangular attachment perforations, and a stocky tang with a central attachment perforation. The bifacial design of the blade head still retains a sharpened edge along each side. A series of etched Old Chinese characters are visible on one side of the blade, though they have been rendered illegible due to age and environmental exposure. Thick layers of green and brown patina envelop the entire weapon, and several areas of the lustrous, silver-colored metal beneath are visible. Size: 7.625" L x 3.375" W (19.4 cm x 8.6 cm)
