East Asia, China, Warring States Period, ca. 476 to 221 BCE. A set of 4 cast-bronze crossbow bolts, each of a lengthy form with a triangular head, as well as a cast leaded-bronze arrowhead with split fins on the lateral sides. Each weapon has developed nice green and brown patina across its surfaces. Size of largest: 6.25" L x 0.375" W (15.9 cm x 1 cm)

Provenance: private Piedmont, South Carolina, USA collection, acquired 1997 in Hong Kong

  • Condition: One crossbow bolt head and tang are separated, and arrowhead is missing most of its tang. All with expected surface roughness and earthen deposits, with scattered areas of oxidation. Nice patina throughout.
