Description:

Southeast Asia, modern day Vietnam, Anamese (sometimes Annamese), ca. 15th century CE; East Asia, China, Yuan Dynasty, ca. 1279 to 1368 CE. A lovely ensemble of 4 pottery bowls, all sitting upon ring-form feet and glazed a pale hue of celadon, as well as a sizable plate. The 2 largest are Chinese and both display wide rims and shallow basins, though one's rim is slightly flared while its basin boasts an incised central tondo of a floral motif. Alternatively, the 2 more petite vessels are Vietnamese and feature flat bases and deep basins, while one showcases a flared rim. All are enveloped in rich sea encrustations - most notably the 2 more petite dishes - from centuries spend on the ocean floor. The largest is a plate with a flared rim and a shallow basin. Size (plate): 12.4" W x 1.5" H (31.5 cm x 3.8 cm)
