East Asia, China / Tibet, Qing Dynasty to Republic Period, ca. 20th century CE. A wonderful hand-knotted necklace comprised of dozens of lapis lazuli and sodalite beads in spherical and natural forms, as well as 6 gilt silver melon-shaped and cylindrical beads and a prominent modern lapis maskette pendant at the center. A pair of large lapis beads of spherical form, hand-carved with the Chinese shou symbol of prosperity additionally adorn the opulent strand. Size of pendant: 0.8" L x 1.5" W x 2.3" H (2 cm x 3.8 cm x 5.8 cm); of strand: 24.25" L (61.6 cm)
