Description:

East Asia, China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 907 CE. A wonderful mold-made pottery figure of a “foreigner” (probably someone from Mongolia) from the Tang Dynasty. He has a powerful, lifelike face with deep set eyes, a beak like nose, a heavy beard, and an intense expression. He is posed in a semi-seated position and is most likely a soldier because of his leather “armored” trousers. Size: 3.6" W x 9.65" H (9.1 cm x 24.5 cm)

Provenance: private Hong Kong, China collection
