Description:

East Asia, China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 907 CE. A beautiful fragment of a guardian warrior figure adorned in white, orange, blue, and green pigments. The mustachioed man presents wearing an ornately stylized breastplate with dragon-form shoulder plates, holds his right hand out as if brandishing a spear, and places his left hand upon his hip. His expressive visage glares out with petite eyes beneath enormous, raised brows, high cheeks, full lips, and a rounded chin, all beneath a peaked helmet with flared lateral brims. Size: 11.8" W x 12.5" H (30 cm x 31.8 cm)
