Description:

**Originally Listed At $100**

East Asia, China, Song Dynasty, ca. 960 to 1270 CE. A pretty saucer with a pale green glaze and a combed wave pattern around the interior, within a narrow incised ring that forms a border around the rim. This item was made at the San Hu kilns in Jingdezhen, in southeastern China. This piece is high fired, with a clear, bell-like tone when tapped with a finger nail. This style is known as Qingbai ware, arguably the first mass-produced type of porcelain, used mostly as burial wares and exports. The distinctive color of the glaze is a result of using pine wood as fuel in the kilns, creating a reducing atmosphere. Size: 4.6" W x 1" H (11.7 cm x 2.5 cm)

Provenance: private Hong Kong, China collection
