Description:

East Asia, China, Shang to Western Zhou Dynasty, ca. 1600 to 771 BCE. A finely carved nephrite jade plaque depicting a dragon or serpent, its sinuous body elegantly curving with a snarling head. A perforation through the neck indicates it was designed to be worn as a pendant. By the Shang Dynasty, jade carving had been a central tradition in Chinese culture for over 2,000 years, often symbolizing power, protection, and spiritual connection. In Chinese mythology, dragons were revered as symbols of imperial authority, fertility, and cosmic order. Size: 2.71" L x 1.16" W (6.9 cm x 2.9 cm)
