Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. early 20th century CE. A gorgeous pair of porcelain jars adorned with lustrous gilding, as well as hues of scarlet, cobalt, emerald, yellow, and purple on a white ground. Each of the lovely vessels sits upon a ring-form foot with straight walls that rise to a circular rim and a convex lid with a flared periphery and tiered handle. A repeated pattern of the Chinese symbol for longevity, known as the shou symbol, decorate the exterior of both, each displaying 2 registers of the symbol on their bodies and 1 on their lids, surrounding their handles. A band of spiraling maze motifs additionally embellishes the bottom of each, while a ring of flowers surrounds each handle, which is comprised of 2 tiers of dotted patterns with a top knob in the form of a flame. Size (both the same): 6" in diameter x 7.625" H (15.2 cm x 19.4 cm)
