Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 1644 to 1912 CE. A sensitive and stylized head of the Buddha replete with expertly-rendered features and hand-carved from a grey-brown stone. The wide neck line tapers upwards towards the puffy cheeks, and elongated ears flank the almond eyes, slender brows with a central ajna, a wide nose, and clefted lips. A smooth forehead traces upwards towards a tall, lobed ushnisha decorated with dozens of deeply-incised lines denoting hair. Drilled through the base for mounting, this is a fabulous rendition of the Buddha! Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 5.625" W x 12" H (14.3 cm x 30.5 cm); 21.25" H (54 cm) on included custom stand.
