East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 1644 to 1912 CE. A fine sculpture of a figure standing atop an integral ovoid plinth, hand-carved from mottled grey stone with beige and dark-brown inclusions. The figure wears a long robe with lengthy sleeves, a drooping scarf, and holds a round-topped object in both hands. The minimalist countenance presents with slender eyes, a bulbous nose above full lips, and tall ears, all beneath a bald top. A faint Chinese character is inscribed beneath the base. Size: 2" W x 5.75" H (5.1 cm x 14.6 cm)
