East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 1644 to 1912 CE. A fine pair of hand-built pottery Fu Dogs (or Foo Dogs) covered in sancai (three-color) glazing. Each creature sits on an openwork pedestal, with one grasping a small creature, and the other holding a free-moving, openwork ball. A tall spout is attached to the back of each dog. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 3.6" L x 2" W x 8.25" H (9.1 cm x 5.1 cm x 21 cm)
