East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 1644 to 1912 CE. A fine ensemble of four hand-carved nephrite archer rings meant to be worn on one's index finger for protection while loosing an arrow from a bow. Each ring exhibits a cylindrical form with a beveled top rim - to facilitate the movement of the bow string when loosed - and a slightly concave lower rim to better fit around the finger. A red-hued circular stamp with four Chinese characters is applied to the side of each ring. Size of largest: 1.2" Diameter x 0.9" H (3 cm x 2.3 cm).
