Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 17th to 19th century CE. A charming brass incense burner resting upon tripodal feet with Shuang-xi or "double happiness" symbols int eh sides and zoomorphic heads as lug handles. The underside is marked with Ming Dynasty Emperor Xuande (1399 -1435), although he reigned for only 10 years (1425 to 1435), that decade was marked with peace and artistic achievement. Xuande became associated with high quality craftsmanship and his reign mark was used centuries later to honor and indicate items that were made in this early Ming style. Size: 4" Diameter x 2.5" H (10.2 cm x 6.4 cm)
