East Asia, China, Neolithic Period, ca. 3000 to 2000 BCE. A nicely-proportioned redware cup with a rounded lower body, a flat base, and a large, flared spout. Three strap handles descend from the unpronounced rim to midway on the body. Utilitarian vessels like this one reflect the skill of Chinese artisans even at this early date.
