Description:

East Asia, Northeast China, Hongshan culture, Neolithic Period, ca. 3800 to 2700 BCE. A finely-carved pendant made from a mottled black stone with beige inclusions. A thin, perforated tab projects from the similarly-perforated body for suspension. The circular body has an abstract avian form, with a pair of slender eyes and a prominent beak on the body, and a singular folded wing on the underside. A beautiful example from one of the earliest cultures in China! Size: 2.5" H (6.4 cm).
