A beautiful pottery jar of unique design boasting a pair of vertical handles with applied pinched strips and red and black painted linear and geometric motifs. The Majiayao culture, also known as the Gansu-Yangshao culture, is from what is known as Gansu or Qinghai province today. Size: 5.3" L x 6.6" W x 4.6" H (13.5 cm x 16.8 cm x 11.7 cm)

  • Condition: Chipping to rim and in some small areas of exterior, as well as loss to applied ribbing at top of one handle. Light surface wear as shown. Great remains of pigment and earthen deposits in areas. Remains of sticky tack on underside of base likely from previous display.
