China, late Ming to early Qing Dynasty, ca. 17th to 18th century. Very attractive and very rare porcelain 3-legged toad, also known as the Jin Chan. Made in Blanc de Chine with added blue and brown spots, body covered in small "warts". Very pudgy face and body thinning down to a small single leg at the end. Size: 7" L x 5" H (17.8 cm x 12.7 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private Peter Arnovick collection, Los Altos, CA. Mr. Arnovick was a collector and dealer of ancient and ethnographic cultures.
