East Asia, China, late Ming to early Qing Dynasty, ca. 16th to 18th century. A very fine porcelain jar and lid with a lovely blue-on-white glaze. The lid is decorated with 4 horses in various poses, a small raised handle, and a band of blue and white "braiding" along base of rim. The jar itself is also decorated with the same 4 horses, and braided decoration on upper rim and twin thin blue band encircling the base. A truly elegent piece for an horse lover! Size: 5.25" W x 5.25" H (13.3 cm x 13.3 cm)

  • Condition: Lid has old area of repair on interior of rim and traces of label adhesive. The body is repaired from about a dozen pieces with visible hairline fissures and losses to rim and foot as shown. Lid still sits atop the jar.
