Description:

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A finely carved stone pendant of a discoid form with a biconically drilled suspension hole through the midsection. Both faces are carved with six pairs of tightly spiraled tendrils that form broad, cloud-like motifs. Traces of red and white pigment are visible within some recessed areas and suggest this pendant was at one time adorned with bright colors. A modern necklace cord makes this a wearable example of ancient art. Size (pendant): 1.6" Diameter (4.1 cm); (cord): 22" L (55.9 cm)

Provenance: private Eason Eige collection, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, 1970s-1990s
