Description:

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A lovely pottery bowl presenting a rounded bottom and slender walls that span outwards to a broad rim, all upon a ring-form base. Though the entirety of the vessel is enveloped in creamy white glaze, the basin boasts a blue-painted decorative tondo filled with an intricate motif of phytomorphic, zoomorphic, and abstract designs. Liberal remains of fugitive pigment forming a vegetal pattern additionally embellish the interior and exterior walls. Note the marine deposits naturally decorating the surface - a wonderful souvenir from centuries spent on the ocean floor! Size: 7.9" Diameter x 3.6" H (20.1 cm x 9.1 cm)
