Description:

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A hand-built pottery wedding sedan adorned in layers of verdant green glaze. The rectangular transportation vessel features an angular seat on the inside as well as incised linear decorations and quartets of air holes on each wall. The overhang is incised with layered curtain rungs while the top exhibits an inverted floral cap topped by a teardrop-shaped flower bud. Size: 4.9" L x 4.25" W x 9.25" H (12.4 cm x 10.8 cm x 23.5 cm)

  • Condition: Repair to flower bud atop sedan, with small chips and light adhesive along break lines. Abrasions and minor fading to glaze in scattered areas, with softening to some incised decorations, otherwise in excellent condition. Nice preservation to overall form and glaze pigment in most areas.
