Description:

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A hollow-molded pottery head of a female, perhaps from a tomb guardian figure known as a mingqi. The face bears high brows, full lips, tab-shaped ears, and a neat hairline, and her coiffure is shaped into a pair of spherical bulbs with a petite central flower on the front. Layers of white and grey pigment accentuate her feminine countenance, and brown and green glaze envelop her coiffure and floral ornament. Size: 2.4" W x 3.4" H (6.1 cm x 8.6 cm); 5.7" H (14.5 cm) on included custom stand.
