East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A beautiful pottery bowl presenting a rounded bottom and slender walls that span outwards to a broad rim, all upon a ring-form base. Though the entirety of the vessel is enveloped in creamy white glaze, the basin boasts a blue-painted decorative tondo filled with an intricate motif of phytomorphic, zoomorphic, and abstract designs. Liberal remains of fugitive pigment forming a vine-like vegetal pattern additionally embellish the interior and exterior walls. Size: 7.8" Diameter x 3.5" H (19.8 cm x 8.9 cm)
