Description:

East Asia, China, late Ming to early Qing Dynasty, ca. 1600 to 1700 CE. A large, beautiful platter decorated with fine line blue-on-white glaze. The exterior is painted with slightly thicker lines, in sparse vine motifs. The interior has dense artwork around the border, forming geometric and floral decorations. The edges of the platter are slightly scalloped. In the square center is a study of a simple, slightly offset flower that appears to be on a lily pad, with a butterfly flying in the upper left corner. Size: 13.95" W x 2.05" H (35.4 cm x 5.2 cm)
