East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A stunning celadon glazed ceramic vase in the shape of a Neolithic jade cong, the symbol of heaven and earth. During the Ming Dynasty, the Chinese were very interested in reviving these earlier forms in both ceramic and metal wares. The vessel is meticulously decorated with characteristic raised linear motifs under sage green celadon glaze that is imbued with marvelous craquelure. Size: 3.125" W x 7.5" H (7.9 cm x 19 cm)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a similar vessel in its collection (accession number 2007.193).
