East Asia, China, Han Dynasty, ca. 206 BCE to 220 CE. A stunning pottery vessel with a rich green lead-glaze, that rests on flat base the walls flaring up to a broad rim with molded raised nodules. The deep interior is also glazed, the silvery iridescence that has formed over the ages is quite radiant! Such a bowl would have been a grave good for the deceased to use in the afterlife. Size: 8" Diameter x 3.5" H (20.3 cm x 8.9 cm)

Provenance: ex-Nancy and Dr. E.F. Simpson collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired from 1970 to 2000
