Description:

China, Western Han Dynasty, 221 - 206 BCE. A stunning cast bronze sword hilt, with pyramidal pommel, handle with raised spikes (possibly to hold inlaid handle), and ornate trident hilt. Swords like this would have been made with bronze hilt, handle, and pommel, while holding an iron blade. Traces of the original iron blade do remain with this piece, though most has been lost. A fantastic piece for collectors and scholars alike! 8"L. Custom stand available.

Provenance: Ex-J. Connell Collection, MA; Ex- John Piscopo Collection; Ex-Anthony Allen Collection.
