Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Protoclassic period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. An adorable hand-built terracotta example depicting a seated male and female with classic Chinesco features. The male dons a decorative cape while embracing the female sitting to his left. Both figures have leggings, capes, and facial details brought forth with black, red, and beige pigments. Each face displays minimalist eyes, protruding noses, and petite mouths. Conjoined Chinesco couples are quite rare, especially one exuding the style and character as this example! Size: 3" H (7.6 cm).
