Nayarit, Mexico, Chinesco Style, Ca 200 BCE to 200 CE. A rare variety of this delightful form of early Meso-American art. Chinesco Type E, covered in white slip which has then been decorated with added red and black pigments. Form is of a squatting male - an unusual pose and most variety of Chinesco figures were females. 6-1/2" H by 4" W. Provenance: Ex Ron Messick Fine Art, ex Gonzales collection San Francisco. The starting price is the lowest price at which the piece can sell.
