Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 200 CE. A fine seated pottery female figure with wide hips, nubbin breasts, splayed legs, and hands held to her waist perhaps indicating pregnancy or highlighting her locus of fertility. Finely painted with black details over a cream slip ground. Nice root marks and mineral deposits. Size: 8-1/2" x 5-3/4" at widest point.
