Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 200 CE. A finely-built "type C" Chinesca terracotta seated female figure with outspread conical legs and possessing a characteristic heart-shaped head. The minimalist visage is comprised of slit-form eyes, a protruding nose with accompanying nose ring, a petite mouth, and a gentle incised hairline. Sinuous arms drape gently to a slight distended abdomen, and pinstripe-style designs adorn the torso and arms, with dual geometric stripes and a large circular spot embellishing the face in a vibrant red hue. Size: 7" H (17.8 cm).
