Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco, ca. 300 BCE to 200 CE. A lovely polychrome terracotta seated female figure with a characteristically enlarged head, heart-shaped face, ample hipped legs spread apart, coiled arms with hands to the juncture between womb and voluptuous hips, further embellished with a netted pattern over her genitalia to emphasize fertility, and vertical striations over her arms, back, and chest. Her visage is comprised of small coffee bean shaped eyes, a protruding nose adorned with a nose ring, and petite applied ears. Adding to this, is her incised helmet-like coiffure and black striated and red circular facial tattoos. Custom mount. Size: 5.125" W x 5.75" H (13 cm x 14.6 cm); 7.125" H (18.1 cm) on stand
