Description:

Pre-Columbian, northern coast of Peru, Chimu, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. A fine adornment formed from a hammered sheet of high-grade (92%) silver. The rectangular sheet has a slightly curved profile, a perforation near each corner, and raised stippling along the peripheries. Within the center is an abstract avian figure in repousse with angular legs, an arrow-shaped body, and a raised head with a right-angle beak. Nice patina envelops both sides. Size: 1.6" W x 1.7" H (4.1 cm x 4.3 cm); 2.375" H (6 cm) on included custom stand; quality of silver: 92%; total weight: 1.5 grams.
