Pre-Columbian, North/Central Coast of Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A lovely pottery stirrup vessel that exhibits stone-burnished surfaces and charming avian creatures along the handle. The red-orange vessel features a central conical protrusion beneath the overhanging, stirrup-shaped handle, and with the handle itself being decorated with a gathering of petite avian creatures as well as a monkey along the top. Two conical elements rise from opposite sides of the shoulder. Size: 6.75" L x 6.3" W x 9.125" H (17.1 cm x 16 cm x 23.2 cm)
