Pre-Columbian, Peru, ca 1100 - 1450 CE. This nicely executed terracotta vessel has slightly flared spout and two perforated lug handles. The central panels shows a standing shaman holding a staff in each hand, figure surrounded by rain drops (a representation of a rain ceremony). Reverse side shows two monkeys facing each other with hands held to mouths, holding something in their hands.. 6"H. Provenance: Ex-T. Pavnik collection acquired prior to 1970.
