Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A fine pottery vessel in the form of a stylized llama head. The camelid cranium presents with a slightly rounded but stable neck base, a narrow snout bound with a segmented harness, a pair of broad, ovoid eyes, and two perky ears. The gray-brown surfaces exhibit burnishing marks that create a lustrous appearance, and the top of the head features a wide mouth with a smooth rim. Size: 7" L x 5.875" W x 4.875" H (17.8 cm x 14.9 cm x 12.4 cm)
