Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. An interesting textile fragment comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in beige hues topped with applied dark-brown paint. The fragment features a central abstract anthropomorphic figure with open arms, a lengthy tunic, and a tumi-topped headdress. Another partial figure is seen in the upper-right corner, and areas of petaloid tabs surround the figures' headdresses and top periphery. A fine textile example from ancient Peru!
