Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chimu or Inca, ca. 1100 to 1500 CE. This plain weave textile panel is comprised of cotton fibers in hues of creamy white, and supplementary weft fibers in brown and tan hues. The white ground is loosely woven first, and the brown and tan hues are added in horizontal stitching following the white weft strands to create a repeating stepped triangular motif. Size: 11.5" L x 11" W (29.2 cm x 27.9 cm)

Provenance: private Plano, Texas, USA collection, inherited from father in the 1990's
