Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu / Inca cultures, ca. 1100 to 1400 CE. A marvelous blackware whistle vessel comprised of 2 spherical chambers, each with a rounded base and connected to one another via a thick tube. While one chamber is topped by a cylindrical neck and flared rim, the other boasts a seated anthropomorphic figure shown with drawn up legs and a broad torso. The fascinating figure displays huge, heavy-lidded eyes beneath an arched brow, a naturalistic nose, and thick lips, all topped with a striped headdress. His attenuated arms are bent backwards to balance a petite jug on his back, just above a cuboid bridge that connects him to the neck of the other chamber. Blow into the opening of the vessel and be delighted by a lovely, high-pitched whistle created via the air holes along the bridge and at the top of the figure's vessel! Size: 7.125" L x 3.5" W x 6.625" H (18.1 cm x 8.9 cm x 16.8 cm)
