Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Inca / Chimu culture, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel in the form of a human head, the visage pinched in relief om the front with a high relief nose and incised scarification or tattoos across the cheeks. Rising from the top is a broad spout and a strap handle that joins neck to shoulder. The small, puckered lips and chin suggest an older individual, perhaps a portrait or a trophy head. Size: 8" Diameter x 8" H (20.3 cm x 20.3 cm)
