Description:

Pre-Columbian, central coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A hand-built grayware pottery bowl with a round but stable base, a deeply carinated midsection, a sloped shoulder, and a thin rim surrounding the deep basin. Incised around the shoulder is a curvilinear motif with repeating cresting waves with petite circles above and below, all enclosed within two sets of parallel horizontal striations.   • Condition: Stabilization to one hairline fissure along shoulder, with minor abrasions, and fading to gray pigment in some areas, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to incised motifs around shoulder. Old inventory label beneath base.
