Pre-Columbian, Northern Coast of Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 1100 to 1470 AD. A fine tumi formed from a lengthy sheet of hammered copper with a slightly flared handle and crescent blade at one end. This piece has a brilliant green oxidized patina touched with organic patterns and markings which have occurred over time. The blade has a smooth, rustic, feel accented by fine, rugged edging. A tumi is a ceremonial knife that often accompanied the warrior or shaman into the afterlife. Size: 5" W x 10.5" H (12.7 cm x 26.7 cm); 11" H (27.9 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Noticeable chips and nicks along the top left portion of its head. Oxidized patina gives the piece its rich green coloring. Organic staining has occurred through time giving its surface a dynamic appeal.
