Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1400 CE. A lovely blackware stirrup spout vessel, the body of an ovoid form, with a tall cylindrical spout and two native gourds or plants projecting at opposite ends of the stirrup. An attractive minimalist form telling of the indigenous peoples' appreciation of their phytomorphic flora. Nice burnishing marks. Size: 6.5" W x 8.25" H (16.5 cm x 21 cm)
