Description:

Pre-Columbian, modern-day Peru, Chimu Culture, ca. 1000 to 1470 CE. This is a very delicate, thin piece of gilded copper that has been hammered into the stylized shape of a feather. This was part of a Chimu textile tradition, where items like this, often embossed, were sewn onto a backing cloth to create a glittering, rustling coating. These kinds of robes would have been worn by people of high rank. Size: 4.55" L x 2.1" W (11.6 cm x 5.3 cm).
