Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Chavin to Vicus transition period, ca. 400 to 100 BCE. A charming pottery stirrup vessel in the form of a seated figure with a stylized visage and projecting legs, all surmounted by a thick stirrup spout. Note how the figure exhibits the abstract features of Vicus culture, while the broad spout is typical of the Chavin. Size: 6" L x 5.3" W x 9.8" H (15.2 cm x 13.5 cm x 24.9 cm)

  • Condition: Loss to tip of nose. Professionally repaired and restored with chipping along some visible break lines and resurfacing over others. Light surface wear as shown, but otherwise nice presentation with mineral deposits to surface. Rounded base creates slight wobble, but still able to stand independent of support.
