Pre-Columbian, northern Peru, Chavin, ca. 900 to 500 BCE. A large and lethal deep grey stone mace head! Once attached to a wooden shaft via the large central shaft hole and capable of cracking open the skulls or breaking the bones of the user's foes. Skillfully carved with eight sweeping ridges or fins to contribute to its brutal impact as well as undeniable beauty. A very nice example! Size: 4.375" W x 2.875" H (11.1 cm x 7.3 cm)
